The Danse Society ABOUT
The Danse Society
The Danse Society is a musical group originally formed in 1980 by musicians in Barnsley, South Yorkshire. The group consisted of founding members from a group called Y? who contacted musicians in another group called Lips-X to become the band originally called Danse Crazy. It was made up of Steven Rawlings, Paul Gilmartin, Lyndon Scarfe, Paul Nash, and Tim Wright. The name Danse Society was proposed by Gilmartin after he recalled seeing a notice on a door at Sheffield University that stated: "The dance society will meet in Room 6". Rawlings said that adding the word "The" as a prefix would be better and so it was that The Danse Society came into being.

The Danse Society are:

PAUL GILMARTIN - DRUMS
BRI SHAUGHNESSY - VOCALS
ELLIOT WHEELER - GUITAR
ADE CLARK - BASS
DARRAN GUY - KEYBOARDS
